When Charles “Chuck” Taylor, a young basketball player who had worn the sneakers in high school, entered the Converse sales office in Chicago for a position, he was hired by Bob Pletz, a sportsman in his own right. Taylor began offering suggestions on ways to improve the shoe, and within a year, these suggestions were implemented, and by 1923, the shoe was renamed officially to the Chuck Taylor All Star.
